How Can We Help? Granite United Way and The Stebbins Family Partner to Bring Immediate Help to the Community During COVID-19 Pandemic

April 13, 2020

New Hampshire (statewide) and Windsor County, Vermont – When the COVID-19 pandemic began sweeping through New Hampshire, Mark and Sally Stebbins, owners of PROCON, called Patrick Tufts, President and CEO of Granite United Way, and said “What can we do to help?”

Tufts had already been hearing about the immediate needs New Hampshire residents were facing. Granite United Way’s initiative 211 NH was identified by Governor Sununu as the resource information line for COVID-19 in early March. Since that announcement, the specialists at 211 NH have taken more than 24,000 calls.

“We knew there was an immediate need just from the volume of calls coming in,” said Tufts. “Granite United Way has some great partners in our community. Mark and Sally Stebbins stepped right up and asked how they could help. Their commitment to improving lives across our community is inspirational.”

Granite United Way had created a COVID-19 Relief Fund, and the Stebbins offered a $100,000 Challenge Match – offering to match dollar for dollar until April 20th.

“The Stebbins family and PROCON have been long term supporters of Granite United Way and during this time the need is greater than ever. To encourage your generosity, we are offering a $100,000 challenge match to double the positive impact of your gift.” Said Mark Stebbins Chairman and CEO of PROCON. “We hope you will support the Granite United Way by giving to the COVID-19 Relief Fund and double the positive impact of your gift thru our challenge match.  Every dollar has a significant impact, so please help your New Hampshire neighbors by donating today.”

To date, Granite United Way’s COVID-19 Relief Fund has generated over $400,000 in support. The Stebbins Family Challenge Match incentivizes donors to help bring more than half a million dollars in support to our community.

“Our community members are facing needs that could not be planned for - Granite United Way has a strong and well-coordinated network of social service agencies that are equipped to help during a crisis, helping our neighbors find the resources they require,” said Tufts. “We have been here for our community, and will continue to help ensure critical services are available to help people get what they need today and tomorrow.”

To double your donation (thanks to the Stebbins Family!) all you need to do is give in one of these ways:

  1. Give online at www.graniteuw.org
  2. Text GUWHELPS to 41444
  3. Mail a check to Granite United Way, 22 Concord Street, Manchester, NH 03101

Granite United Way is working with state and local leaders to address needs in real time.

“At a time of crisis, we know that aligning our work and support will be key to bolstering vulnerable individuals and families,” said Heather Staples Lavoie, Board Chair for Granite United Way. “I am proud to serve as Board Chair for Granite United Way, an organization that is a leader in addressing the pandemic – finding real-time solutions for the short-term and planning for ways to continue that support in the future.”

As this situation evolves, Granite United Way will be sharing the most up to date information on ways to help our neighbors; visit graniteuw.org.
